After posting about the spider animation tutorial I remembered I had read a paper about simulating the gait of real scorpions to build a tetrapod robot. This great tutorial from Lots Of Robots shows how to animate and guide a spider rig.
Click the image for the best part of the tutorial, the one where the spider’s goal is moved during the animation. This is a must see tutorial for anybody interested in automatic animation, but it’s a little Max biased, as the whole bunch of leg animation is in a Max Script.
